Reading Options
There are many things that I found interesting but out of all the things I read, I found three that I would be interested in learning more about.
Story: Krishna and Rukmini
The Tales of Shiva: LINK
From what I read in the summary, Lord Shiva did many things that made me question the purpose behind why he did what he did such as cursing Parvati. I am interested in learning some of the stories and learning why he did what he did.

I am also interested in learning more about the Hindu god and goddesses which we will be exploring second half of the semester. I want to learn the main things about them and what they are mostly known for.
Story: Krishna and Rukmini
I want to read about Krishna and Rukmini and how they came to be and the challenges they had phased because they liked each other but couldn't be together. Growing up I always saw statues and pictures of Krishna and Radha and not with Rukmini so I want to learn how that came to be.
Krishna and Radha: Source
This is great, Pranali: Shiva is FASCINATING, so keep an eye out for him in the epics and you will see him appearing and reappearing... and then there are also so many Shiva stories you can read about beyond the epics, along with the other gods and goddesses. The epics don't have as much about the goddesses, for example, but you can find good materials online, in Bizzell, etc. And KRISHNA: yes!!! He is in the Mahabharata, but there is so much more about him beyond the Mahabharata (like his many wives!), so there is a two-week period of Krishna reading options later on. Here's a cool Ramayana tie-in: in addition to Rukmini and Radha, there is Krishna and Jambavati, the daughter Jambavan the Bear King who is a main character in the Ramayana! Jambavati at Wikipedia :-)
