Introduction: A little about me
Hello everyone, my major is Psychology. I want to do my masters in Speech-Language Pathology. After I finish with college, I want to be a Speech Therapist. I also want to move to Texas in the future, I know what you are thinking, boo Texas, but I will still always be a Sooner. I am currently a senior, this will be my 4th year in the University of Oklahoma. My biggest accomplishment last year was figuring out what exactly I wanted to do after I graduate and what I am passionate about which had been a constant struggle for me. This summer I took a trip to Chicago with my sister, it was great exploring a new city. I really enjoy traveling and going to different places. My goal is to visit all 50 states one day, I am almost half way there which is exciting. My favorite T.V. show is Friends, just like every other person out there. I enjoy all types of movies but comedy would probably be my favorite. Bollywood movies are also my favorite, they are very different from American movies. I am also a big fan of dancing, that is my favorite way to destress from college. Each semester I dance at Indian events that India Student Association and South Asian Student Association hosts at OU. Being Indian is a big part of who I am, I also enjoy learning about other cultures from different countries because everywhere you go, there is something new to learn. My sister says I am not the best cook in the world, but I can make mac and cheese any day. Mexican food, Thai food, Chinese food and of course Indian is my favorite. SO pretty much anything that is spicy with lots of flavor will get my mouth to water. My favorite pass time would be to hangout with my friends and family, just having good company is the best. I would pick going to the beach over a big city any day.

Hi again, Pranali! I was so excited when I saw you want do be a Speech Therapist. That is such a great field which intersects with psychology and linguistics and education and medicine. Fantastic! I had to go to a speech therapist when I was a little kid (I had a lisp so bad that it was hard to even understand what I was saying, and the therapist helped me learn how to work on that) -- so I've been a fan ever since! Is there some specific experience that led you to choose this career field for yourself?
ReplyDeleteAnd I will be so glad if this class gives you a new way to learn more and explore more about Indian food and music and dance, all of that. And beaches! In another post I just shared a great legend about the creation of the beaches of Kerala, and I will share that with you too: there are stories everywhere in India, in every place and about every place:
Kerala: Mythology
And you can keep me posted on India Student Association events this semester so that I can include them all in the class announcements: I include a campus event every day, and of course the best events are ones connected to the class somehow. :-)
Hi Pranali! It's been great that you've been able to figure out what you want to do after you graduate, that seems to be the one question that almost none of us can confidently answer. I recently started Friends on Netflix, but I've been having a hard time returning to it- maybe I can use this as a kickstarter to return. Anyways, I hope you have a great year!
ReplyDeleteHi Pranali! It's so encouraging to see someone who has figured out what they want to do! I am currently going through that right now, but I know that I will figure it out one day. As far as Texas goes, ain't no better place in the world! I'm hoping to move back there too once college is over. I think its so cool that you participate in so many Indian events by dancing. Of course, when you move to Texas you'll have to learn how to two step.
ReplyDeleteHello Pranali! It is awesome that you are a senior here at the university! This must be an exciting time for you! I am also a senior here at OU and I can not wait to be finished! I am also a big fan of Friends and spicy foods! However, I wish you the best of luck with your last year hear at OU! keep up the good work!
ReplyDeleteHi Pranali!
ReplyDeleteI totally agree, the beach is way better than a big city. Good luck on your masters degree. It is always nice to have a goal and work to achieve it. Friends is a pretty good show, I watch it on Netflix. Also, who doesn't like spicy food, one of my favorite veggie dishes is pan fried peppers and onions. Yummy!
Hey Pranali, my sister graduated with a Psychology degree! Funny thing is.. she works as an HR Admin now for a company in Edmond. I would also love to move to Texas once I graduate. Visiting all 50 states would be such a great milestone to achieve! Good luck on your adventures!
ReplyDeleteHi Pranali! I'm glad that you figured out what your passion is! Also, I've always wanted to do the 50 states challenge too! You've been to half of them?? That's awesome. I've probably been to a tenth of them. What did you do while you were in Chicago? I've never been to that side of the country, but I would love to go to New York. Good luck with your senior year!!
ReplyDeleteHi Pranali!
ReplyDeleteCongratulations on senior year and finding your passion (and also on being able to make a mad mac'n'cheese!). I love the 50 states goal- what a fun way to measure how you explore the country! The Chicago trip sounds like it was a blast- it's always interesting to adventure around in a big city (but I agree with you: the beach>>>). Dancing is such a great way to blow off steam with school stress! Thanks for sharing a little about yourself and best of luck this semester!
Hey Pranali! I'm so happy that made the decision of what you want to pursue for a career. Something that I have learned throughout tutoring kids and the growth mindset assignments in this class is that we don't have a fixed ability to learn or grow, so I know that you will excel in whatever field you're interested in succeeding in because I know that you'll be willing to put in the work that it takes. Good luck this year! We're so close to graduating!!!
ReplyDeleteHey Pranali!
ReplyDeleteJust out of curiosity, why do you want to move to Texas and which part? I also have a goal to visit all 50 states but I’m not quite halfway there. Which state and/or city was your favorite? I think for me it would probably be Washington and the islands out there, if you ever get a chance to go you should check them out, so worth the trip!
I also think I want to move to Texas, I think I would love to live in Dallas or maybe Austin, I am not sure yet! Your major sounds very interesting but also like a lot of hard work so congrats on that! I am also a beach lover and would love one day to live by the ocean but i know that is probably a little far fetched considering i have only ever lived in a land locked state. It was great reading about you, goodluck with your semester!
ReplyDeleteHi Pranali, I am so happy for you about figuring out what you want to do after college! That is such a hard decision. You can do a lot of good as a speech therapist and help a lot of people, which is amazing. You can't lose when you make mac and cheese because it is so amazing, so you chose a good specialty! I have a friend who also likes to dance at the Indian events at her school, and she really enjoys it. Hope your semester is going well!
ReplyDeleteHey Pranali,
ReplyDeleteThats great that you have already figured out what you want to do after college. Its a hard decisions and its go for you to already be ahead of the curve. Which part of Texas are you wan ting to move to, there are so many different areas that you could go to that would be great.
Hey Pranali!
ReplyDeleteI think it's awesome you want to be a speech therapist and help people. I had a hard time too deciding what I wanted to do with my life, but I'm glad you figured it out. Also, I think it would be so cool to visit all 50 states. I visited most of the states on the east side but never been to the west side. Hopefully, I'll be able to travel more soon. Anyways, I hope your semester goes well and good luck!
Hi Pranali,
ReplyDeleteIt's so great that you figured out what you want to do! That's always such a challenge, but such a relief when you finally figure it out! Chicago is probably my favorite city in the world. I love the people, the architecture of the city, and of course, the pizza! It's awesome that you have lost visited every state in the United States!
Hey there Pranali! Thank you for sharing a little bit of who you are with the class! I have a friend who is also wanting to be a speech pathologist, and I have so much respect for your field of work. My grandparents are also huge fans of traveling, however once they visited all 50 states, they decided to try and visit as many countries as possible too! Maybe in your future you will do the same, as the travel bug never seems to leave people. I wish you the best of luck and hope the rest of your senior year goes well.
ReplyDeleteHi Pranali! It was great to learn and to read more about you from your introduction blog post. It was so awesome that you went to Chicago and exploring the new city with your sister! I’ve always wanted to visit Chicago and see what it is like. I bet it was amazing. Overall, I am just going to keep it short and just to wish you a happy, wonderful, and successful semester, Pranali!
ReplyDeleteHey Pranali! It’s cool that you want to be a speech-language pathologist, and I’m happy you found out what you wanted to do. It’s a pretty hard decision and so I totally understand why that was hard. I also really enjoy watching Friends – it really is a great TV show and I feel like most people do love it. I really hope your dream of visiting all 50 states comes true, and I hope this year goes well for you!
