Learning Challenge: Being Happpy

Image
I did the learning by HEART challenge and picked the video ‘ Be Happy! ’. I think this is a very important video because it is very easy to feel sad when little things happen in life. If we focus on the better things and positive things in life and do things that make us feel good then we will be happy. I like how the video listed simple things that anyone can do to be happy like doing things you are good at or just setting goals and reaching them. Little things really make a difference. I knew that doing things that you like can make you happy but the list of simple things in the video gave me ideas on what I could do to be more happy. I didn’t think facing my fears would make me happy but it would make me feel better when I achieve something. One I really like is ‘Live in the moment’, which is hard to do sometimes for me, because I worry about the future a lot. I want to explore how much of the stuff I would actually do if I made a list. I will make an a list and see how I use this l...

Feedback Strategies

Image
There were many good articles that I found for feedback tips and strategies that seem really useful when giving someone feedback. One that I really liked and found most helpful was ‘ 7 Key Characteristics Of Better Learning Feedback ’ by Grant Wiggins, gives good examples on what exactly each of the 7 characteristics that were listed for better feedback meant. I like that he said to be specific, say exactly what to do, more or less or what would make it better. The article I liked about praising that was very interesting was ‘ A Troubling Side Effect of Praise ’ and the research done on kids was very interesting. Praising for efforts and for the correct answer caused most of the kids to cheat. This shows that it is not a good idea to praise someone, even though it may seem like a good idea. I think the best feedback strategies would be to be honest but saying helpful things on how something can be fix, give examples rather than saying, 'it could be better' or just saying 'g...

StoryBook, Topic Research

Image
I want to use Ganesha and Kartikeya, his brother, as I tell stories. I want to use these two brothers and tell some interesting stories about their childhood because to me that is the best time of our life. I think these two characters would be really fun to change up and create stories about.  One story that I would want to create is when the two brothers want the same things, one of them outsmarts the other into getting it but that never effects their relationship. Such as they both want the same food but there is only one of it. I would want to recreate the story of the race around the world but use different object rather than a mango and a different outcome. Source .  Another possible story would be Ganpathi bringing home a girl for the first time to meet his family and how nervous he is because he doesn't want to disappoint his family. The girl is three years older than Ganpathi, which is not the ideal relationship, which is the reason both of the...

Week 3 Story: True love

Image
Link to Portfolio . PDE Ramayana: Shurpanakha and Rama . Source. Indian Myth and Legend by Donald A. Mackenzie (1913) I kept the same main characters, and kind of the main idea the same but changed it up to the modern day story and how it would happen compared to how the story was told. Once upon a time, on a normal sunday afternoon, or what seemed to be a normal day to Rama and Sita as they went on their daily walk to the park. It was not just any normal park though, it was the famous central park in New York. Rama and Sita are newly weds, they have only been married for a month now and are trying to figure out things to do in New York, since they are both new to the place. Rama is from Florida and Sita was from Texas, I bet you are wondering how that happened. They had an arranged marriage, It was almost a typical arranged marriage, their families knew each other for decades and so the family decided to introduce Rama (a very handsome man) to Sita and they started to get to...
