Feedback Thoughts
Seven Ways to Crush Self-Doubt in Creative Work - This blog is very helping and can be used in any situation. Many times you learn things that only work for school but you can use this for anything in life. I really liked what John Spencer said, I think it was spot on. I really liked the examples that were given in the blog, especially about how a baby falls many times trying to learn to walk but the baby still gets up and tries to walk again. If babies can do this then why can't we do what we desire. I try to think of how no one is born with a lot of the skills we learn in our life time, we learn as we age.
Why rejection hurts so much — and what to do about it- No one likes rejection, no matter how old you are and no matter what situation you are in, rejection hurts. This was also a very helpful blog to read because rejection happens everywhere not just in college. Many people, even I would want to give up because of course it doesn't feel good to be rejected. It was a interesting read for sure. Something really amazing that caught my attention from the article was when people were placed in the MRI machine and were asked to recall a situation when they were rejected the same part of the brain was active that physical pain is in the brain. That is just fascinating because I would have never thought these two things would be in the same zone of the brain.
When I look back I think the most productive feedback I have received is when someone tells me how to change something to make it better or at least give ideas on how to make something better. I really like suggestions because it is a different way to do something and I know exactly what to change. I can't remember negative feedback but I know what wouldn't be very helpful. No one should tell someone that they are totally wrong, that just puts someone down, saying things in a nicer way will makes someone actually want to understand. When someone shows me/ tells me how to do something if I am not understanding is the best way that I learn. In other aspects of life, if someone can gives me examples on what I am doing wrong shows me exactly what someone is talking about.
